About Coe Esports
The Coe College Esports scene has been around for awhile but it first began as an official Esports Club in 2019. Founded by Bobby Tornabene, Logan Rockwell and Michael Banks, the Esports Club gave an outlet for those that wanted to play games together casually and competitively. In January of 2021 Coe College made the first step to create a Varsity Esports Program as they hired their first Esports Director/Head Coach. Under the direction of Curt Kimm, Coe began their first season as a Varsity Athletic Program in the Fall of 2021. Coe competed in many titles including Valorant, League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Smash, Rainbow 6, Call of Duty, Madden and NBA 2K.
Starting in Fall of 2022, Coe College downsized to just four titles for the Varsity Program. They include Overwatch, League of Legends, Valorant and Rocket League. The other titles were now under the direction of the Esports Club as they begin to grow again. Downsizing the Varsity Program made it easier to focus on the titles that are currently the most popular in the collegiate scene. A byproduct of creating a Varsity Program, the Club took a hit in numbers and events they were able to put on. The Club will now house competitive and casual matches/games in Smash, Rainbow 6, Call of Duty, Madden and NBA 2K and any other titles the students want to play.
